Donate Any Amount For The Chat Widget

After through all the testing and searching for a new chat widget, I have come to a conclusion that nothing works better than ShoutMix. Hence, I poked around at the ShoutMix site and found out that a one year subscription for usage of the chat widget is only $20.00. That's for 12 months people and I do think that it's reasonable and it's probably worth it that we sort of chip-in to avoid the 60 posts per hour limit that ShoutMix has.

Please use the donation button above, and for other users who don't have Paypal you can contact me through my cellphone number or email. Remember that this is not a requirement and any amount will do and of course we will feature your name as one of the donors. I will surely be sponsoring some of the amount itself but I will not include my name in the donor list. Remember, "ANY" amount will do and if you feel like giving a lot of money, the extra will of course go to the fund for our Alma Matter or any other widget that can make the blogsite better..

DSHS Alumni List Info Bank

Whew! This place had been a ghost town...er, page. I guess, what with no more "grand" reunions planned in the near future, it's only understandable. Anyway, I see that there's still traffice from time to time so I'll just post this little something for those who doesn't use Facebook (much). I got this FB message from Gelo dela Cruz several weeks back. Please read on.
Hi Everyone. The RTPM-DSHS is currently trying to compile a list of alumni and their present occupations and whereabouts, and I have volunteered to reach out to as many DuScians and ask for their information. A couple of minutes of your time is all it takes for you to email me with your name (please include your maiden name, if married), current address, email address, occupation and industry (business, science, engineering, education, etc). You can message it to me through FB (make sure you don't respond to all, unless if you want everyone to know your information), or email to gelodelacruz@gmail.com. Please forward this to all the DuScians that you know through FB or through email, and have them respond to me. Thank you again. Gelo Probers 1997 *** Addendum Please also add your section and the year you graduated. The name of your adviser would also be helpful. Thanks.
As I've said in my follow-up message in FB, please send in your info to Gelo ASAP. We smell a grand homecoming in the offing so we hope to gather as much of our batch as we can. Thank you in advance. :)

A Little Something From Over the Weekend

I just want to say a big THANK YOU to all the guys who went to the little shindig over the weekend known as our 10th Year Grand Reunion. It was a huge success despite the fact that little was really the operative word since there were just 24 peeps who showed up. I also want to say thanks to our batchmates who sent their monetary support for this affair--we really appreciated the thought. As for the guys who had to cancel at the last minute and/or who already had appointments last weekend, we hope you can join us in our next get-together. Dexter really estimated food good enough for more than 24 people so louy kaayo ming naghurot sa duha ka lechon. Faet ang kinabuhi noh? I will leave the recap of (hopefully) the entire weekend to the Grandmaster, Dexter Ian Albina, so that the guys who weren't able to attend will at least know what went down and what-not. Okay ra ba, Dex? A part of our activity last March 28 was that we elected officers so that any future activities will be easier to organize. Here are our new officers:
  • President: Sir Dexter Ian Albina
  • Vice-Pres: Joseph Diaz
  • Treasure: MJ Cabano
  • Secretary: Ads Sevilla
  • Auditor: Miko Ariza
  • Prince Charming/Muse: Chelsea Quipot
As you can see, that's primarily one of the reasons why I'm posting this. As I was (s)elected in to my position, I feel obligated to post some things here--especially since we also had a short meeting regarding the school project for our dear old alma mater. Malain man si Miko og di ko mag-take sa minutes sa meeting. (Aba, serious na jud ni.) We voted to donate two drinking fountains since we heard that the students there can really make use of these--kita pud unta to sauna. The timetable that was presented was:
  • April 10 - Principal's Approval
  • April 20 - Project Quotation
  • April 30 - Pledge Deadline
  • May 1-15 - Procurement of Equipment
  • May 30 - Installment of Project
  • June 16 - Target Project Turnover
Sir Dexter discussed that we still have some money left so it shouldn't be too hard to raise the funds for this project. Also, the rich ones have already made their pledges of PhP1000 each (Miko, Dexter, Mia, Celso--daghang salamat daan!). We hope to get more pledges before this month is out so that the project will be completed on schedule. Basically, that's it from me for now. I'm taking the job of batch secretary very seriously. LOL! Dex -- recap, please...as soon as you have the time (sige Busy imo status sa office--pagsure ha). Digos -- salamat sa paghulbot sa akong number sa surprise raffle. To all of you -- watch out for Celso/Chelsea's new advert on TV. Bongga! Lee -- amegang wafa, hinay-hinay sa sunod nga tagay. Hehehe!

I would like to acknowledge the efforts of the following people: Jeffy who sent his contribution through Kwarta Padala; Cherry through Glenn Mae; Lee Ann, Mia, and Rhoda through Olivia; and Shubie, who is currently in Texas, through her mom.

My apologies to Cloyd and Shirley since I wasn’t able to get your respective shares due to my busy schedule.

To those people who have challenges in reaching out to me, your payments will be accepted at the registration booth that will be set up at the site and this will be of course visible to everyone.

December 2009 Pictures

The December 2009 pictures. Download here.

Yellow Tops and YellowTupps - The Duscian Official Flower

I was really bored tonight, February 14, 2009 and its a Valentine's Day. I began to sift around my mail and took a peek at every picture that has been submitted and remembered a promise that I gave to a fellow batchmate earlier this week. As I took a long look at his picture and request, it made me remember the plant, shrub, flower, or to be safe (flora..am I correct, in a scientific point of view?) the knee-high thing that grew along the hallways of classrooms of Science High. Hallways, and yet I seem to disagree with the term. Pathway, now pathway is somewhat correct.

Anyhoo, I took a little gander if these so called "yellow tops" were indeed yellow tops, or in anyway recognizable as such and took a little trip to Mr. Google to ask around while at the same time, I can't shake the feeling why I seem to visualize Ma'am July Duran everytime I think of yellow tops. Spathoglottis came up but no yellow tops so I kept on asking myself what these "yellow tops" are really called, anybody care to guess? Who came up with the name anyway?

Since some of you might be in the mood for a guessing game, here's a request from one of our fellow batchmates, Neil Q:

"It's already hard to remember all the details on how this treck to casaroro came about so brownie points to anyone who could put up the details on this get-together.. Details like who took this picture, when and how the good times went etc etc. And I'll even put up a special prize on who could tell what's inside that yellow Tupperware! I couldn't remember, but I know the clues are there. Figuring the details myself is like that same perplexing time I had when I took the 3rd periodical test and my seatmate who aced that PEHM exam was really tough on sparing me some answers. (cmon, where's the love?) Share your thoughts; let's use up the comment box below."

Guessing Game Details:

1. Provide the details of what is in the yellow tupperware.

2. Use the comment box to give your answers.

3. If ever interested in the prize, please do provide your name.

What's up for grabs? One case of beer at the Grand Reunion, sponsored by Neil Q.

Grand Reunion Details and more

Duscians batch 99, KUMUSTA? I can feel everyone’s excitement for this grand event and it increases each time we visit the best blogsite ever created by the “Kap” himself Mr. Ban Jassen Calinawagan. The blogs and pictures make us travel back in time and reminisce our most unforgettable, most difficult, and most embarrassing moments. There were three sections with three different stories and we will make them ONE on this big event.

The Fellowship

I’d like to share how this GRAND Reunion came into place. It started with a text message from Oliva Palang saying that Adelaine Sevilla wanted to meet some people from our batch. Then we forwarded the info to all people whom we have contacts of. Astonishingly, there were more or less 30 people who showed up. This “fellowship” brought up the idea to have a HS batch 99 reunion, not just a regular reunion but a GRAND Reunion at that.

The Plan

I assume everyone knows the date of this most awaited event as this was posted by Kap early this month. But for the benefit of everyone, I’m giving it again (you better take note of this, or else).

The big event will be on March 28, 2009 and will end on the following day which will be held at Calinawagan’s Beach House (Kap will be posting a map going to the place). Since we don’t have any funds available, the fellowship agreed that everyone should contribute Php500 for the food, place, shirt (tentative), giveaways (tentative), and a project. This project is for our alma matter and this will be discussed on the night of the celebration. We will also have fun activities and games so prepare to get wet.

To all our batchmates who are now internationally based, you are not excused in giving contributions. In fact, we are expecting more than Php500 from you guys. Hehehe. We will surely miss all of you physically but I assure you that you will be part in making the “story” one.

I welcome your thoughts so if you guys have more ideas for the reunion, feel free to email me at dex_ian12@yahoo.com.

Communication

The communication committee is led by the very proactive Adelaine Sevilla. She’s calling everyone personally to relay the info (thanks to the company’s resources. Hehehe). To date, she has 42 people who confirmed and sadly 5 who did not. I’m also planning to have it announced over the radio for wider coverage. DJ Dolf, if you’re reading this, feel free to make the announcement over your radio station. Let’s help the communications committee in cascading this info.

If you have any suggestions to make this event more widely known, please let us know.

Methods of Payment

Pick up: For Dumaguete based only. Send me an email with your contact number in it so I could call you for details.

The Bayawan Escapade

If you get frolicsome("I like that word, frolicsome haha") high school students and motorbikes mixed together, you get: a long distance travel which took almost half a day, lots of near-miss accidents, bike race in the rain, a record in a police blotter by over-protective parents, police looking for the said high school students in the police blotter, an arduous search for a vulcanizing shop in a remote area (in the dark), a motorbike that did a 135 degree wheelie, April Boy Regino's "Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin" pose, and most importantly a lot of smiling and happy faces despite the wet clothes and unwanted parental attention.

If I remember the details right, it was fire protection month in Dumaguete back then and RB Marc Batulan got spoofed by his best-friend into doing the duck walk around everybody for being late. After the practice for the fire drill (which our batch won of course) for the so called "fire drill", there were a few miscreants left behind that were planning a road trip to Bayawan composed mainly of Section B and C students and this is one of our memories of Macky that I will not forget.

Complete Class List

Hey, guys. I have posted the complete class list of DuScians99 together with each of our current status for the Grand Reunion on March 28, 2009. Those with their names in bold have already confirmed their presence for the big to-do (the number is 40 right now) while those whose names are in orange have confirmed that they will be there in spirit. LOL! Please (please!) check the second sheet for the list of peeps whom I don't have any contact info for. If you have their mobile or landline numbers, email addresses...snail mail address--anything--just drop me an email at acmcsevilla@gmail.com. Meanwhile, I will be updating the list every chance I get.

Picture Slide from Dec 29, 2008

If you had nothing better to do in the office like I did last Saturday, I'm sure you can come up with something like this. Probably even better. Well, here we were last December 29, 2008--when we first came up with the grand reunion idea. Watch out for Irene and Lee Ann's shots--and I don't mean just the camera-related ones.

See ya'll March 28.

High School Session 1

To grab the complete batch of pictures click here. Pictures courtesy of Nancy Biyok.

When digital cameras where still unheard of, when people still waited for days just to get their films developed, when people idolized and where singing to "Michael Learns to Rock" during exams (how I wish I wasn't one of them, but I was), when people were playing table tennis on cemented benches... when Ma'am July's son kept on using Jake Pia's bike in the middle of class without bothering to ask (speaking of the little guy take a look below, he's even in our batch pictures).

When there were groups such as "FRECKLES", and "The Spice Girls". When during noon breaks all girls where reading cheesy tagalog love novels and the boys kept borrowing just to read the interesting parts. When the first section seemed to follow all rules of the "badge" and yet in other sections, students were taking turns paying the fines. Ah yes, the folly of youth. Where hath thou gone? What has time done upon these innocent sniffling children of '99.

Pitstop On The Way to the Grand Reunion (2006)

Pictures courtesy of Neil Quiambao. To get the full batch of pictures click here, or click the picture above.

This was held last December of 2006. If even a few people can produce smiles such as that then I couldn't see why a full batch reunion wouldn't work. Aside from Ramere who seems to exude a look saying "hey there big boy... how ya doing", I expect nothing from the debonair duscian who's all about the "Killer Moves".

Hopefully all of us would be "supportive" in the gathering of the said information. Please contact me, Ads, Distiw for any errors in spelling or if you have names to be added to the list. Based upon the email that was sent, there are still 15 or more students unlisted. Hopefully, we will soon finish the "In Memoriam" section for our batchmates who passed away. People, we really need additional information, contact numbers, and email addresses. This is strictly quid pro quo, you scratch our back and we might not have to scratch yours right away, but we deliver a successful grand reunion ... or not. Hey, if the reunion sucks then at least we have a blogsite that we could all use as a viewpoint to bask in the memories of Dolpunks Stamina, the SEBA Cup, the fateful motorcycle accident in the middle of class highlighted by some ketchup and chalk, late night call's which involve somebody playing Mariah Carey when you answer the phone, Huder's peso coin trick with the juice, and memories that were very funny yet embarrasing for some, that even I am doubtful to share in a post that's available for public consumption. Regardless of everything, these memories should be brought out in the open and shared with friends. I'll start the ball rolling ... I stole food from the canteen and kept on getting spaghetti refills ... see? that wasn't so hard.
